Spring in Shanghai

My life in Shanghai has finally returned to normal for me which means I can start blogging again! The weather is quickly beginning to warm up and Shanghai has began to blossom with the colors of spring.

Shop fronts have shed their winter gear too and are now showing off the beauty of spring.

Season's Greeting!!

Happy New Year!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog!
I'm sorry that I missed blogging about several big holidays (Halloween, Christmas and New Years), but I had to leave the country to renew my visa so I was lacking information about the happening in Shanghai. The good news is, I'll be back in Shanghai for another year!!! I look forward to sharing my cute experiences in Shanghai with you in the coming year.

In the spirit of the New Year's tradition, I've decided to set a few goals for this blog that I aim to accomplish in 2014.

Blog consistently and frequently

Get over my shyness and start taking more street fashion photos

Find more cute things/brands/places/etc. that are uniquely Chinese

As consultation for missing so many events, here's a few more photos of cute signage, things and people I spotted around Shanghai in 2013.

*Please note I did not photograph these girls. I took this photo of a photo
at a  Chinese photography exhibition. I'm sorry I don't remember the artist's name.

These girls were advertising a small anime convention.

Cute clothing store that is a mix of preppy American casual
and cool graphic designs. I love the front of this store!

Here's a close up of the store front.

See you back in Shanghai soon!

Dimei Guang Chang Underground Shopping Arcade

What I expected.... (1000+ hours in ms paint)

You won't find Dimei Guang Chang on any tour guide's list of places to shop, nor will you find many locals (over 25) who are familiar with this shopping wonderland. Dimei Guang Chang is tucked underground beneath People's Square and is easy to miss if you don't know where to turn.

Street Snap

As the weather quickly cools down in Shanghai, people rapidly transition into their fall wardrobe. With that comes fluffy sweaters, cute boots and hats and the opportunity to layer. Fall weather also creates a perfect time to sight some amazingly cute outfits.

Here's what I saw the other day.... can you guess what it is? Here's a hint!

Let's Learn Chinese Together!

Welcome to the Classroom

Today I am going to introduce some basic and general terms you might find useful when shopping for apparel. I'm not a Chinese language teacher, nor am I a native speaker, but I've found the words below to be handy when shopping both in store and online so I'd like to share them with you.

Below is a graphic I quickly drew up to help illustrate the meanings. You can cover the words and test yourself to see if you know them all.
Let's begin!
